Deferred Action for Child Arrivals (DACA)
The DACA program allows undocumented immigrants who were brought to the U.S. at a young age (specifically before turning 16) to remain in the U.S. for 2 years free from deportation. Those approved can receive a work permit valid for 2 years, and in some states such as California, they can apply for a Driver's License and/or an ID.

DACA:
- Provides eligible individuals relief from deportation for 2 years
- Provides valid work authorization for 2 years
- Can be renewed every 2 years, as long as the program continues and you remain eligible
- You may apply for a Social Security Number and a California Driver's License
- You may also apply for travel documents known as "Advance Parole", but it is highly recommended that this is done with the assistance of an immigration attorney
DACA IS NOT:
- A pathway to citizenship
- Permanent residency or status
- The Dream Act
- A change in the law
